The Lost Ones

The ones I could have had
But never did
I think about the most
Now
Their smiles
Pretty faces
I recall all their names
Their voices
The ones who liked me
I liked them too
More than liked
But for reasons of pride, shyness, or stupidity
I never took
Sleepless
Restless
Thoughts at night
Almost haunting
Of what could have been
Sometimes they appear in my dreams
If I think about them too much
They are still young
And so am I
Caught in a time warp
Of lost romance
Perhaps
Even love
